Developing an annual plan is vital to achieving your annual goals.  It is important that your plan is fluid and well communicated.  Click below to download the planning guide prepared by PB&J marComm to assist our clients.

When it comes to planning there are many clichés and metaphors. If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. Or most plans are GREAT, but execution is poor. Or a good plan is a map to success.

I like the concept that a good plan requires some assembly. Pulling from research, strategy, and input form others. To put together a solid plan usually takes more time and effort than we originally anticipate.

Thinking about the additional effort and time reminds me of an entertainment center I assembled. It was the first piece of furniture I purchased. It was the 90’s and I had invested in a 27” TV to go along with my component stereo system. This was to replace the cinder blocks and 2×4’s and properly display my impressive electronics.

In my head, I had seen the perfection of my first piece of real furniture. Yet, I had missed so many steps in achieving that perfection. If only I had slowed down and paid attention to information like the shipping weight it listed or the assembly time. I would have carved out 3 times the proposed assembly time and not had any other plans.

I was so focused on the end result that I did not evaluate all the costs or requirements necessary to accomplish my desired end. If I would have only paid attention to some details and planned.

Some assembly required
