After nearly 20 years as a sales leader, Patrick recognized that there was no greater tool for a salesperson than belief and passion for what you represent. While serving the American Red Cross as an Executive Director, he realized the value of fundamental principles in sales and sales leadership and their ability to translate to major gift development
Patrick applies the principals of authentic relationships, strong leadership, a solid strategy, and great storytelling to help organizations find new levels success. In many cases, he has been involved when an organization has its first multi-figure event or makes its first successful multi-figure ask.
In 2021, his book Fundraising Is: Everything Done Before Asking For Money discusses all the planning and infrastructure required before you execute your fundraising activities. The book is the summary of the many blogs and articles that Patrick has written for The Insider magazine of the Virginia Pilot, Bloomerang Donor Management Software and Network Peninsula.
Julie Dudley, Grant Writer
Julie brings her decades of non-profit experience to PB&J marComm after working with groups like the American Red Cross, Northern Neck Food bank, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Julie understands that grant funding is no different than any other funding, it requires relationships.
Julie is skilled at identifying where your relationship with a funder begins, and can advise at how to develop and grow your partnership. She will articulate your mission and explain how a funder can positively impact the community.

Heather Livingston, Organization Development
A non-profit professional with 40+ years experience. A child of a military officer, she began her work with the American Red Cross assisting families of service members. She served the Red Cross in many countries and across the United States eventually returning to Virginia where she was the Executive Director of the Hampton Roads Chapter.
While Executive Director, she received training in the Benevon model of fundraising, which focuses on relationships and building value in a non-profit organizations mission. She understands the value of a strong board and its role in fundraising for your organization. Also, Ms. Livingston managed a multi-million dollar capital campaign for a new chapter building.
After retiring from the American Red Cross, she became the Executive Director for the Downtown Hampton Child Development Center (DHCDC). Ms. Livingston tripled the results of the center’s fundraising efforts during her tenure through developing a strong board and setting a clear vision for the future of the organization. Ron Hunt, Grants and Campaigns
Ron Hunt offers clients a wealth of experience on strategic initiatives and resource development. As a professional he has raised funds for education and human services both locally and nationally.
His primary focus has been on corporate and foundation relations, capital campaign planning and counsel, grant writing and reporting, and prospect research. Ron has raised funds for valuable initiatives such as marine science; international and national disaster relief; engineering; higher education; projects serving underrepresented students; economic development; and healthcare.
Ron has worked with organizations and universities like William and Mary, Christopher Newport, the American Red Cross National Headquarters, U.S. Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources, Kaufman and Canoles Consulting, Ketchum, and most recently at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS). Ron earned a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Planning and Leadership from William and Mary.
